Reef Conservation UK 2020

Reef Conservation UK (RCUK) will return for our 23rd Annual Conference taking place online from Tuesday 8th December to Thursday 10th December 2020.

Abstract submission is now closed  - many thanks to those who submitted.
Decisions have now been made on all submitted abstracts and communicated to the submitting author. Please contact us as soon as possible at [email protected] if you have not heard back.

RCUK promotes multidisciplinary conservation, public awareness and education about coral reefs, as well as a platform for reef enthusiasts of all backgrounds and career levels to share their work. Contributions are encouraged from all, including: university lecturers and students, aquarists, field conservation workers, government staff, consultants, and those involved with ecotourism or benefiting from reef ecosystem services. We also actively encourage applications from underrepresented groups and promote equity and diversity in science.

Presentations
Presentations will take the following forms:
  • Oral presentations (12 minutes followed by questions)
  • Virtual Posters

We welcome submissions on all aspects of science, management, policy, or culture associated with reefs or adjacent ecosystems. This year we will structure the event around the following session themes:
- Reef Ecology
- Marine Conservation Approaches
- Molecular Insights for Reef Ecology and Conservation
- Reefs in a Changing World
- Other  - an open session for all other presentations related to coral reef science, management, policy, or culture

Workshops
We are also offering the opportunity to host online workshops which can last from 1-2 hours and provide the chance for more in depth discussions and knowledge sharing on a topic of your choice. These can be related to one of the session themes, or any topic relevant to the coral reef community. We welcome all submissions for workshops, but particularly encourage those in early-career positions to consider proposing workshop ideas. Please use the abstract submission form to put forward any proposals to host a workshop.

Abstract review
We will initially review all presentation abstracts blind - removing author names and institutions. All abstracts will be considered for the requested presentation type/workshop, but please note that due to time constraints, only a limited number of talks, posters, and workshops can be accepted. If we are unable to offer you your preferred presentation type we will endeavour to  offer you an alternative presentation type. All accepted abstracts will be made electronically available on the RCUK website and in the conference app.
